Acharya Nagamani holds postgraduate degrees in Political Science and Hindi from Andhra University and has also completed her B.Ed. She has amassed 36 years of experience working with civil society organizations in Andhra Pradesh.

Acharya Nagamani’s core expertise lies in community development, women’s empowerment, legal advocacy, and forest management. She has extensive experience in implementing social projects, training local leaders, and addressing gender-based violence, particularly in rural Andhra Pradesh. Her skills include project facilitation, capacity building, legal advisory, and working with civil society organizations on issues of governance, forest rights, and social justice.

She has also been associated with organizations such as the Centre for World Solidarity (CWS), IGSSS, SPWD, CARE- Andhra Pradesh, SDTT, SRUTI, LAYA, and Oxfam India. In these roles, she has played a pivotal part in implementing projects related to local governance, forest rights, forest management, gender issues, women and child development, and violence against women.

She is also a master trainer certified by APARD and has been continuously involved in training of Sarpanches, MPTCs, and ZPTCs in the Vizianagaram district of Andhra Pradesh for the past ten years. She has also served as a member of the Legal Services Authority Committee in the District Court for eight years in Vizianagaram District.

She facilitated the six-year “We Can” campaign (2006-2013), supported by OXFAM India, to end violence against women. She actively participated in gender violence awareness programs and served as a registered service provider with WCD and One Stop Centers to address domestic violence cases. It is mile stone of her career.

She actively facilitated the World Bank-supported Forest programs such as Joint Forest Management and Community Forest Management from 1994 to 2007.

Currently, she has decided to focus on forest management and tribal issues through her work with the Centre for People Forestry, where she has been involved for the past year.
